Detecting Major Factors for University Success

A purpose of this research was to identify the most relevant educational factors for deci-sion making process by applicants for an undergraduate university course. This work is based on the results of the analysis of cohort of 13.487 students of the first year full-time undergraduate entrants’ in the University of Alicante taking into consideration the universi-ty study areas, the high school study programmes as well as the entrance exams results and credit pass rate of each student. The research proved the scientific high school educa-tion to be such a key indicator with the highest relevant school/university performance correlation and securing higher retention rate in the university study areas.
